€100 To Practice Maths?

5th Dec 2025

From November 10th to December 5th, our first and second classes took on a brilliant challenge—the National IXL Competition! The task was simple… but definitely not easy: answer 750 questions on IXL to earn a place in a national draw to win €100.

And what an effort the children made! Over the four weeks, our pupils logged in at home and in school, practising their maths and English skills, building confidence, and showing exactly what steady daily practice can achieve. IXL is fantastic for helping children work at their own level, celebrate small wins, and strengthen those key skills bit by bit—and our boys and girls really proved that.

By the end of the competition, an amazing 16 children hit the 750-question target and got their names into the draw. We were so proud of their commitment that we decided to hold our own special celebration too. At assembly, on the final day of the competition, we ran a school draw so that everyone’s hard work could be recognised.

Four lucky winners walked away with festive selection boxes:

🎁 Selena (1st Class)
🎁 Joshua (1st Class)
🎁 Aoife (2nd Class)
🎁 Evan (2nd Class)

The excitement was sky-high, and the smiles were even bigger!

A huge well done to all the children who took part—you showed brilliant focus, determination, and a real love of learning. Here’s to more fun challenges ahead! πŸŒŸπŸ“š
