The Titanic

29th Apr 2021

During April, Second Class were busy learning all about the Titanic. Our teachers are so proud of us for learning so many new facts and creating such amazing project and art work.

We learnt all about the journey of the Titanic, why it sank and even about the type of people onboard. Here are some of our favourite facts we learnt -

  • The Titanic was built in Belfast by Harland and Wolff.
  • The Titanic had around 2,200 passengers and crew on board.
  • It stopped in Cobh, County Cork before setting sail across the Atlantic.
  • It was due to arrive into New York seven days after it first set sail from Southampton, England.
  • It hit an iceberg and sank on 15th April 1912.

As part of our learning, we even compared two cities - Belfast and New York - and talked about their similarities and differences. Which one would you prefer to live in?

We really enjoyed learning about the Titanic and if you have questions about it, please ask one of our historians in 2nd Class.
