SuperValu Save the Bees Competition COMPLETE!

6th Apr 2022

Thanks to EVERYBODY who diligently collected cards from SuperValu towards the SuperValu Save the Bees Competition! The children were fantastic in gathering ALL 300 cards and we reached our target in under 4 weeks!

Those of you who stroll by the school fencing towards the library will most definitely have noticed our developing Classroom in the Sun outdoor space and garden area. We have a brand new orchard, a Greenhouse and some lovely raised beds which the children have been central to planning and developing. They have allocated lots of areas in and around the garden for wildflower planting as they understand these are the bee's favourite. Not only did they plan and imagine the area but they have been so eager with the planting and watering and watching the area grow and progress over the last two months.

The children were thrilled to get involved with the Save the Bees project and have diligently collected cards to fill the whole board! They are very proud of themselves and their teamwork and are eager to continue exploring, planting, discovering and caring for our outdoor space and all the wildlife it draws in. When asked if we won, the children would like to purchase child-friendly gardening equipment and attire! They suggested lots of pairs of welly boots and wet gear in different sizes to fit anybody across the school. Although our outdoor space is called the Classroom in the Sun, it won't always be in the sun, and although the bees don't like the rain the children don't mind getting stuck into the jobs that still need doing during the rainy months to prepare our lovely garden for the bees in the sunnier months!
