Inter-School Football Tournament!

22nd Jun 2026

On Thursday 18th June, as part of Active Schools Week, our school took part in our second inter-school football tournament — and it was a day none of us will forget.

The day was the result of ten weeks of hard work. Every week, our players turned up, trained together, and grew as a team — thanks in large part to the parent volunteers who gave their time to help make it happen. Their support made all the difference.

Before the tournament, there was one more surprise in store. Thanks to the generosity of the Rowlagh Community Credit Union and our school parents, the children received their first ever set of jerseys. The smiles said it all.

This year we travelled to St. Bernadette's School, where we were joined by Divine Mercy JNS for what turned out to be a brilliant afternoon of football. The clouds looked threatening at times, but the rain stayed away — almost as if it knew better than to interrupt.

Out on the pitch, our children gave everything. There were wonderful goals, brave tackles, and moments of real skill. More than anything, there was joy — children playing football with huge hearts and huge smiles.

When the final whistle blew, we were invited into the hall for a presentation of certificates in recognition of our teamwork and the spirit we showed throughout the day. Mr. Whelan and Ms. O'Brien could not have been prouder.

It was a wonderful occasion — and long may this tournament continue to grow.
