Green Schools

11th May 2022

This year our school has restarted our Green Schools programme. We are hoping to apply our first green flag in March 2023. The theme for the first flag is ‘litter and waste’ which focuses on the ways we can reduce waste, reuse items and dispose of waste correctly. Every class has a representative on the Green Schools Committee. In term 2, the committee were busy gathering data on how waste is managed in our school to inform our action plan.

The goals in our action plan are currently as follows:
- To reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by 30% (by Feb 2023)
- To increase the amount of recycled waste by 30% (by Feb 2023)
- Begin composting garden waste
- Increase paper re-usage throughout the school
- Target litter black spots
- Educate the school community on litter and waste
