Creative Islands

5th May 2021

Week 3 of Creative Schools has landed and what better way to kick things off than to explore the children's own Creative Islands flag game.

This game is based on the children's imaginative ideas in creating flags that represent their favourite activities. The children were inspired by viewing RTE's Creative Kids documentary together. The children voted for their top activities. They also made their own suggestions. The flags represented their interest areas. These were a few of the suggestions - dancing, gymnastics, singing and music, cooking, and art. The children got a chance to race their classmates in getting to their favourite flags.

Clodagh, our Creative Associate, joined us a few weeks back to deliver a practical creative workshop and initiated meaningful conversations with the children and teachers to begin investigating engagement with the arts and creativity at our schoolWe are still in the Understand Phase of Creative Schools where the voice of the child is central to our school's creative journey. We look forward to the coming weeks!

For now, check out Ms. Moloney's First Class, Ms. Naughters Junior Infants and Ms. O'Donoghue's Second Class enjoying their games of Creative Islands.....
