Community Garden Group and Workshops

24th Aug 2022

Many thanks to the parents/guardians/grandparents and community members who have joined us for gardening group and workshops across the school year. We had a number of workshops facilitated by Biodiversity Expert Joan Power where we focused back in October and November on rejuvenating the raised beds at the side of the school by weeding and planting bulbs and seeds.

As the year progressed, Joan guided us in planting and developing our new sensory garden and outdoor classroom which was our project under Creative Schools with Creative Associate Clodagh Emoe and the Arts Council of Ireland. Thanks to everyone who came on Tuesday mornings to help with planting, digging, watering the plants and bringing this space to life. Gardening has provided us with opportunities to collaborate, build relationships across the wider school community and develop our knowledge of the health benefits of gardening. In the month of May, Joan facilitated some parent-child workshops. Well done to all who participated in plant potting. Thanks to all the families who donated fabulous plants to our garden.
