All Smiles and Sun at out Colour Run!

13th Mar 2026

On Friday, 6th March, our school community gathered in Collinstown Park for a very special event – our School Colour Run. After weeks of wet weather, we were incredibly lucky to be greeted by a beautiful sunny day, which made the whole occasion even more enjoyable.

The children had been training and running in the lead-up for six weeks, building their fitness and excitement for the big day. By the time Friday arrived, they were buzzing with anticipation and couldn’t wait to get started.

In total, around 200 children from Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class took part. The younger children in Junior and Senior Infants ran one loop of the course (800m), while First and Second Class completed two loops. Their first lap helped them “unlock” the paint, and the second lap brought them to a full mile.

There was a fantastic atmosphere from the start. Music was blaring, and thanks to Active South Dublin, we had a huge inflatable start/finish arch which added even more excitement to the event. We were also delighted to have Niamh Fitzgerald from Athletics Ireland helping to cordon off the course and ensure everything ran smoothly.

A huge thank you must go to Ms. McLoughlin and a brilliant team of volunteer parents, who took charge of the colour stations along the route. Armed with handfuls of bright powder paint, they brought incredible energy and enthusiasm, covering the runners from head-to-toe as they passed by.

One of the highlights for the children was seeing such a big crowd of supporters. The park was filled with parents, volunteers and spectators cheering them on, and it really felt like the whole school community showed up to make the day special.

The run itself was wonderfully chaotic – children sprinting, laughing, and colour powder flying everywhere! By the time they crossed the finish line, they were absolutely covered in paint, with huge smiles on their faces.
